Mentawai Fishermen Discover Ancient Ship Wreck Post-tsunami

Fishermen in South Pagai Island, Mentawai Islands regency, West Sumatra find ancient shipwrecks laden antique relics allegedly 14th century that dragged into coastal waters by the tsunami waves on 26 October 2010.

The location should be secured, because according to the provisions of law, the existence of the ship and its cargo whichsank in Indonesian waters are in control of the state through theMinistry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of Indonesia, he said.

He mentioned, the DKP has also been reported to West SumatraKP3K DG Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Ministry and the center is expected to immediately reduce the team to the location.

We hope soon KP3K DG team immediately lift the wreck and its contents, according to central government authority against the existence of cargo ship sank.
